Savoury pie using leftover meat

A great way to make small leftover meat go a long way! A 23 cm dish will provide two meals for 2: eat half of the pie hot at night and the other half cold for next day packed lunch.

Below is a picture-guide suggestion of how to make the pie and what to put inside it. First, make the dough by following this easy guide, text and video. Then, prepare the filling:

Spread a thin layer of mustard with the back of a large spoon…

…or wholegrain mustard, about 2 tablespoon worth

Cut leftover meat into small cubes, here I used beef…

… or use chicken or  ham or chicken and ham together!

Add vegetables such  as sliced leek, thinly sliced carrots (if thick they will not have time to cook properly), sliced sweet pepper, sliced tomatoes, etc.

Then, prepare the sauce:

mix one egg fresh cream

Mix one egg with about 200ml double cream or double cream and fresh yogurt, plus salt and pepper.

Then,

Pour over the pie

pie grated cheese

Sprinkle some grated cheddar cheese

Finally, place in a pre-heated oven at 180 degrees Celsius and bake for about 30 minutes until golden brown.

Below, I made a different pie using a larger dish. Simply double the quantities of dough and other ingredients required.

 

 

Pies are great when having friends for dinner. Prepare the pie a couple of hours in advance and just pop it into a hot oven before they arrive. Serve warm with a salad. No stress!
