Using a skip efficiently

At some point in your life, you might have to hire a skip to get rid of unwanted items. To make the most of a skip, use it wisely. Don’t just chuck out anything and everything in your skip. Spend a little time dismantling furniture and other bulky items to make the most of the space available. If throwing a number of bricks or other rubble, lay them carefully in the skip so as to have as few air gaps as possible.

Nowadays, recycling centers only accept so called “household waste”. So, if you are a DIYer, you might find it hard to dispose of your old bathroom tiles, garden concrete path, etc. You are restricted to about one black bin bag per week for any waste considered as building work waste. So, use your skip for these restricted items and take the “allowable” items to the dump if you have a lot of waste to dispose of.
