How to protect floors when decorating

Be careful when using fabric dust sheets as they seem to have a mind of their own. When preparing walls for decorating, I found that fabric is difficult to clean afterwards: little pieces of wallpaper stick to the fabric and flakes and scraped plaster from flaky paint are awkward to remove. In the picture above, I was trying to empty the dust sheet into a plastic bag but all the stuff fell out from a different side and missed the bag…

So, my tip for you today is to get two or three wallpaper samples (free at any DIY store) as long as your arm span. Place them along the wall, overlapping their edges. Then, when you have collected your flaky paint, pick up the two ends of each wallpaper piece and gently tap the dirt into the bag. This will certainly help prevent your footwear from getting covered!
